Becoming "THAT GIRL"

When I say "THAT GIRL" I'm talking about the girl who focuses on herself above all. She works out, learns, fuels her body with the right food and words. The matcha drinking fruit smoothie girl who always finds the right lightning in her house girl. Aesthetic aside, I want to be the girl who can inspire but more importantly be there for others. Every day I can confidently say I'm heading closer in this direction.
I think it's obvious this wasn't always the plan. I used to hate self-help books. I've spent the majority of my life being so quick at the draw at the mention of something I need to improve. I was aware of my faults and knew I wanted to fix them, but constantly hit roadblocks of my own ego.
So what changed? How did I become the 6 am bitch waking up with her pre-workout? It's not that easy to trace things back, but I remember a pretty poignant point that just got me thinking. I was hanging out with some of my older friends and some new ones that I normally don't get to see. Things went sour and fights broke out. I became part of the conflict between the two.
One half was so focused on their own bubble. I couldn't penetrate it if I tried; a word couldn't be spoken to them. There was a tunnel vision issue here and everyone around them was being harmed from it because they too...had an ego issue.
The other half was acting differently. There seemed to be a sense of inner peace and a need for the greater good in them. They knew this wasn't the path they wanted to take to have this fight and tried to change it. You can imagine who I ended up looking up to.
I know this seems like an insignificant story to create such a change, but I'm sure you can understand that sometimes there are moments where things just...click. This was my moment. I didn't want to be stuck in that same tunnel. I wanted to be able to tackle difficult situations head-on with the maturity that my new peers seem to have.
Having peers to look up to who listened to what I had to say and inspire me is what started it all. I can guarantee you that most people want to be healthy, be happy, and feel at peace. If we all want it though then why don't we have it? Well, you're not going to find a singular reason for this, that's why you'll find a dozen self-help books trying to point you in one direction or another, but what I'm trying to offer you in this post is just one of the ideas. Surround yourself with people who inspire and find people who have the values you hope to find in yourself.
I became that bitch by being a lonely bitch for a bit. A global pandemic certainly helps for that too, but you shouldn't be doubting your friendships. Yes, every once in a while it is normal, but don't hang around people who make you doubt yourself and your ideals. I had A LOT of time during a pandemic to think about who I was and who I wanted to be. It was through this internal monologue that I decided I needed to make a change.
The changes were very small and gradual. I stopped drinking every weekend, started picking up books again and developed my workout schedule for starts. I have slowly been introducing more things to this list.
One thing they don't tell you about being THAT GIRL is that people won't necessarily "get it." Not everyone wants to hear you talk about the stock market, your macros, or the recent insight you learned from a conference...actually most people don't. But I can't blame them, the reason it interests me is that I'm living the experience of being on a higher frequency. It'd be like listening to someone explain the intricacies of their year 5 engineering program. You're missing quite a few steps. So for now, if you're planning to stick around for a bit I'd just recommend you have an open mind. You have the option to fill your had with whatever you want...do you want it to be filled with your own doubt and ego blocks or would you rather it be filled with positivity that you're slowly learning to believe as truth?
So without sounding too much like I'm speaking nonsense off the bat, going forward I really hope you take away some messages:
Keep an open mind
You have the power to change
Surround yourself with the right people/ideas
