Don't Drink the Poison

There's an adage that I recently heard that says you don't drink poison just because you're thirsty and it came about at just the right time. Everyone knows things are slowly opening back up again. All the old influences we once were able to literally hide in our homes away from are now starting to crop up again and it's challenging.

"FOMO" has always been a big one for me. I've had ups and downs with a lot of friends and left people cause I knew it wasn't serving me anymore. For most of the pandemic this out-of-sight and out-of-mind state of being worked wonderfully. Now I'm forced to face those feelings once again. People will be seeing others and I will be "left out." It's not an "if" it is a when, but the challenge here I'm being put through is to overcome it.

My point here is don't go back to toxic people just because you're lonely. This is a plea to anyone who reads this and to myself. It will never be worth it. You will find your own way to have fun. Also, FOMO really lasts for a day at most so really stick to your goals and your own gain will be more worth it in the end.

Also, I am trying to change my mentality to take an opportunity to see new people instead. I genuinely am so lucky enough to have so many people I want to catch up with or meet for the first time so I'll be ready for when Quebec allows me to. We're going to reach new places by opening the same doors. I genuinely believe I have gotten strong enough that I don't need to drink the poison and I wish the same for you too.

DON'T FORGET:

  1. Don't rely on others to make your fun this summer. You can do it too and you can make it even better.

  2. Don't underestimate your own company. Doing things by yourself is also super rewarding

  3. We growing this summer. No more returning to old ways
