Rome Wasn't Built in a Day

Idioms always come across as so cheezy to write out, but they do hold some value.

I could go on and on about the importance of patience in a lot of aspects, but to keep it short, I wanted to touch up today and progressive learning. You never stop learning and the day you decide you don't want to learn anything else is probably the day you decide to become dated. It's to your benefit and to others to keep on learning.

When you're lifting weights, you start with 5 pounds and then slowly can increase the amount of weight over time. It's a very tangible and visual progression that you can see, but the same can happen on a mental level if you let it.

Just as so many people give up weightlifting because they have to start from the beginning, the same happens with knowledge. When I started to learn about all this fitness stuff I was overwhelmed. Aside from the fact that there's plenty of misinformation being passed around, there's just a lot of information in general.

As I'm studying to be a personal trainer they talk a lot about how knowing the correct exercises is only one piece of the pizza. From there, you need to understand nutrition, biology, and be a therapist, to say the least. I have a lot of general knowledge but I also have a lot of stuff I still need to learn and sometimes I feel shame for not knowing it all off the bat.

But here's the thing, you never WILL stop learning. So take the small steps now that will lead to great steps later. Even someone who has been in the fitness industry for 10 years may learn something from YOU because you have new knowledge. Also, you'd be surprised how quickly all the info starts to amass, so don't be discouraged by what you have because you'll get more quipped with more knowledge in no time.

Also, don't be afraid to accept the knowledge from others. It's great to hear everyone out at a base level. As I previously mentioned, there is a lot of misinformation being passed around, but everyone's opinion is worth a listen, it's just up to you whether you'll actually implement it or not. I would recommend just doing your own further research later on.

The world has infinite knowledge so don't close yourself off to what it has to offer.

  1. Never. Stop. Learning.

  2. Take small steps. You'll be surprised how quickly you can learn

  3. Listen to other's when they try to teach you something
